Traffic Impact Study of Shaukat Khanam Memorial Cancer Hospital Karachi

This project deals with the traffic impact study of the planned 50 bed welfare cancer hospital named as “Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital Karachi” at Karachi – Hyderabad Motorway (M9), Karachi, nearby DHA City.
The proposed development has a plot size of approximately 22 acres with 18,000 sq. yard hospital building It has ground plus three floors. SKMCH will be equipped with latest cancer care technology, including Radiation Medicine department at the lower level. The hospital will have MRI, CT-Scan, Women’s Radiology, Outpatient Clinics (Children & Adults), Emergency service Department and a Food Court at the ground level. The first floor will be equipped with two Chemotherapy Facilities (Children & Adults), Endoscopy and Bone Marrow Departments. It will also have latest laboratories, including Hematology, Molecular, Special Chemistry and Bio Chemistry Lab. On Second Floor it will have 2 Intensive Care (ICU) units, central sterile services department (CSSD), Surgery Departments and Recovery Rooms. The inpatient rooms are planned to be provided at Third Floor of SKMCH.
The proposed hospital is located along the principal motorway of the city; i.e. Karachi – Hyderabad Motorway (M9); location of this hospital plays a vital role in establishing the fact to conduct a traffic impact study which would not only evaluate the effects of such hospital but will also propose a recommended solution to optimize the traffic state for both; facility and roadway users.
